Psychological Assessment

Autism Spectrum Disorder

An Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment or the neurodevelopmental assessment is an evidence based way of assessing differences in the development of someone’s social communication skills and behaviour that are making life hard for them, their family and friends.

ADHD

An ADHD Assessment is an evidence based method of assessing whether a child’s difficulties with attention, memory and/or impulsivity and hyperactivity are severe enough to provide a diagnosis for ADHD. This involves investigating whether the difficulties are happening at home and at school.

Cognitive Ability

A Cognitive Assessment, sometimes referred to as an IQ test or WISC, is a gold standard method of assessing a child's (age between 6 and 16) intellectual ability in five broad areas; Verbal Comprehension, Visuo Spatial ability, Fluid Reasoning, Working Memory and Processing Speed.

Educational Assessment

An Educational Assessment is the best way to gain a thorough understanding of a child’s difficulties in the classroom. When we compare a person’s academic skills with their cognitive ability we can home in on the source of a wide range of difficulties such as specific learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia, giftedness) or behavioural difficulties which may be getting in the way of learning.

Comprehensive Assessment

A Comprehensive Assessment is…well…the works. Sometimes casting a broad net is a good idea because childhood difficulties rarely appear in isolation. The full assessment can provide a detailed picture of your child’s strengths and difficulties. Knowing this, you can put support exactly where it is needed.
